Afghanistan Bamiyan Buddha Hazara

A view from the damage head of the 54 meters high Bamiyan Buddha, on the demolish bazaar caused by the fight between the Taleban and the local Hazaraâs in 1999..These magnificent colossal statues, created during the 3rdâ4th centuries A.D., attracted pilgrims for centuries, far beyond the time when Buddhism languished in India following the disastrous visitation of the Hephthalite Huns in the 5th century, the subsequent resurgence of Hinduism, and the arrival of iconoclastic Islam in the 7th century..The entire niche was once covered with paintings dating from i he late 5th to the early 7th centuries.
